Rutgers' New Recruiting Tool:
A Helicopter

In order to court and recruit new high school prospects for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights football team, head football coach and National Coach of the Year, Greg Schiano, relies heavily on a new recruiting tool: a helicopter. Custom-made for the university in red and black with the call letters N130RU (130RU stands for 13-0 Rutgers) on the tail along with a black Rutgers' block R on the side door – this chopper is dressed to impress, but it's a practical tool, as well.

Although many coaches across the nation already use private planes to recruit nationally, Schiano only recruits in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland. Therefore, the helicopter proves itself to be the most efficient possible mode of transportation – and quite a sight too!

"Right or wrong, recruits like to see the head coach at their contests," said Schiano. "The fact that he took the time to come out to see them leaves an indelible impression not just on the prospective player, but on the parents, coaches and other students. It’s our pleasure to be instrumental in this process."

"It's been a great relationship," said Patrick Day, our Marketing Director. "It works for both sides. For us, it's extremely important because you've seen what's going on at Rutgers. The tri-state area has never had a college football team like what Greg Schiano's doing at Rutgers, so it was real important for us to get on board and attach ourselves to that."

When it comes to the recruiting process, we at Liberty Helicopters make sure the sky really is the limit for Rutgers football.
